On Wednesday, September 22, the U.S Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Government Affairs held their first hearing on President Biden's three nominees to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).
The MSPB is in crisis: it has not had a quorum in over four years and has not had a single sitting member since early 2019. Given this historic absence of members, there is an ever-growing backlog of whistleblower retaliation cases. As of January 2021, the backlog was over 3,100 cases.
It is now up to the Senate to do the right thing and advance the three qualified nominees we heard from today.
It's critical to see these nominees to the MSPB confirmed – and quickly. So please, take action: urge the U.S Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Government Affairs to advance the nominees immediately.
The Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) is the primary avenue for federal employees to submit whistleblower complaints, and it is currently in crisis. The MSPB has not had a quorum in over four years and has not had a single sitting member since early 2019.
So please, take action: urge the U.S Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Government Affairs to advance the nominees immediately.
