On February 25th, the bipartisan Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Fund Management Act was introduced in Congress.
Currently, the CFTC whistleblower reward fund is being depleted after a record-breaking number of award claims in the FY 2020 fiscal year. This needed bill would allow the CFTC to set aside more money from sanctions in order to pay whistleblower awards, ensuring the continued success of the program – at no cost to taxpayers.
Without this act, delays and inability to pay awards will severely harm whistleblowers and undermine the CFTC’s record of success. Since the program was founded under Dodd Frank in 2010, the CFTC has recovered over $1 billion from criminal and fraudulent activity due to whistleblowers assistance and paid over $120 million in whistleblower awards.
So, please, take action today and write to your members of Congress urging them to pass the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Fund Management Act. There’s no time to wait: commodities whistleblowers need help now.
