This visionary action, taken during the height of the American Revolution, stands today as a testament to the importance of whistleblowing in our history. This is a day that should be remembered and celebrated.

Message:

Dear Representative: I urge you to take action establish July 30th as National Whistleblower Day, a Federal Day of Observance this year. On July 30th, 1778, the Founding Fathers instituted the first U.S. whistleblower law to protect the government against fraud. This is an important part of American history, and one that should be celebrated. I have long supported whistleblowers and a Marist Poll conducted by Whistleblower Network News also established that the majority of potential voters in the United States also support whistleblowers and increased whistleblower protections. This bi-partisan support for whistleblowers would surely extend to bi-partisan support for National Whistleblower Day as a Federal Day of Observance. As a whistleblower supporter, I ask Congress to require federal agencies to educate their employees about their right to blow the whistle, and the contributions whistleblowers have made to their agency and our democracy every year on July 30th. This day coincides with an important moment in history where our nations founders decided that whistleblowers must be protected as they protect our values and integrity as a nation. Please amend 36 U.S.C as soon as possible to include: 36 U.S.C. § 144. National Whistleblower Day The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation setting forth the following— (1)	Designating July 30 as National Whistleblower Day; (2)	Inviting the people of the United States to observe National Whistleblower Day with appropriate ceremonies and activities; and (3)	Requiring all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States Government, and interested organizations, groups, and individuals, to educate their employees in writing and commemorate the contributions whistleblowers have made to the United States on that day. We must recognize the courageous contributions that whistleblowers have made to rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse. Whistleblowers are credited with bringing in billions of dollars per year to U.S. government coffers. Make history this year, and recognize whistleblowers by enacted a Federal Day of Observance in honor of the. Now more than ever, we need a permanent day of recognition for whistleblowers to show our nations commitment to truth, anti-corruption, and effective law enforcement. Make each July 30th a Federal Day of Observance, National Whistleblower Day, so we can honor the contributions of whistleblowers and foster the courage to speak up about wrongdoing.
