On October 6, the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs voted to advance President Biden’s three nominees for the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). Now, the nominees must be confirmed by the entire Senate. This is a crucial step toward ensuring federal employees have the rights and protections they deserve.
The MSPB is in crisis: it has not had a quorum in over four years and has not had a single sitting member since early 2019. Given this historic absence of members, there is an ever-growing backlog of whistleblower retaliation cases. As of January 2021, the backlog was over 3,100 cases. Until these nominees are confirmed, this backlog continues to grow.
It's critical to see these nominees to the MSPB confirmed – and quickly. So please, take action: urge the U.S Senate to confirm the nominees immediately.
The Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) is the primary avenue for federal employees to submit whistleblower complaints, and it is currently in crisis. The MSPB has not had a quorum in over four years and has not had a single sitting member since early 2019.
So please, take action: urge the U.S Senate to confirm the nominees immediately.
